Our work has three parts that support each other: better goats, trained families, and a steady market for the milk.
1. Improving the herds
We work with the National Dairy Authority (NDA), the Philippine government agency for the dairy industry, to improve dairy goat genetics on Mindanao. Better breeding stock means goats that give more milk while staying hardy in local conditions.
2. Training and distribution centers
We are building community centers that do two jobs:
- Training — families learn goat care, feeding and forage, breeding, kidding, herd health, and clean milking and milk handling.
- Distribution — healthy live goats are raised at the center and placed with trained families, who build their own herds from them.
3. Selling the milk
Milk from the centers and the families is collected and sold, including to government programs. The income goes to the communities the work serves and helps keep the centers running, so the project does not depend on outside money forever.
Who we serve
Indigenous communities on Mindanao, working with local leaders so the project fits each community’s land, needs and decisions.
How we measure progress
We will report what matters, openly, on our Transparency page:
- Goats placed with families, and how the herds grow
- Families and community members trained
- Milk collected and sold, and income returned to communities
- Centers built and running
