Transparency

We believe the people who support Living Herds, and the communities we serve, should be able to see how it is run.

Governance

  • Organized as a nonprofit public benefit corporation in Missouri, USA
  • Governed by a volunteer board of directors under written bylaws
  • Conflict-of-interest policy adopted by the board
  • Independent directors being added to the board

Tax-exempt status

Our application to the IRS for 501(c)(3) recognition is being prepared. We will post the determination letter here when we receive it.

Reports

Each year we will post a short report of our work and finances here: goats placed, families trained, milk sold, income returned to communities, and how every dollar was spent. Our first report will follow our first full year of work.

Non-discrimination

Living Herds serves all people without regard to religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, age or disability. Our programs are not religious and do not require anyone to take part in religious activity.
